I am Alexis, World Traveler and I would love for you to join me on my many travels to different countries. Together we will learn about the children and families of these lands. We will learn it is ok to be different, that we are all God's Children.

Alexis's mother and I feel it is important to teach Alexis about diversity and cultural awareness. We want Alexis to know that people of different cultures may be different from us but that it is ok to be different. We want her to know that if we understand their culture that the differences are not really that great. From the time Alexis was born we have been talking to her about world events, and racial tolerance. She has never heard a racial slur in her six years of life. The foundations for racial attitudes are laid as infants and toddlers and after the age of nine their racial attitudes tend to stay the same. That is why it is so important that we never let our children hear or see any form of racial intolerance. When you live in rural Indiana it makes it more challenging to teach about diversity and different cultures. We came up with the idea to have her study about a different country each month and we will do fun activities such as eating at restaurants, playing games, visiting museums, dressing , and listening to music depicting the country we are studying. Follow Alexis on her many travels around the world and feel free to join her as she learns about the many different cultures.

This is Alexis's 5th official postcard through Postcrossing. The photo is of the Brandenburg Gate, the main entrance to Berlin. It was surrounded by the Berlin wall for 30 years, it now symbolizes reunification. The young man who sent this card, Christoph, is going to school to become a doctor. Thank you Christoph for the wonderful card. Alexis loves the smiley stickers.

Postcard From China

Today Alexis received this postcard from China. We asked if anyone could send us postcards with writing in their native tongue. This allows Alexis to see different languages, we thought this would be a good experience for her.

The photo on this card is the Temple of the Heavens. This is the largest temple of it's kind in the People's Republic of China. It was built in 1420 and both the Ming Dynasty and the Qing use it to pray for the harvest (spring) and thank Heaven for the fruits (autumn). Located in Tiantan Park Gongyaun, south of the city of Beijing.

Postcard #3 Arkansas

Alexis received her 3rd postcard in the mail. She is really getting excited about getting mail addressed to her. This card came from Arkansas with a nice message.

We are getting a wonderful response from some of our blog readers and members of Postcrossing. Right now we have about 5 people from around the globe requesting our address, so that they can send Alexis a postcard. It is exciting to read the messages written on the cards. You can learn so much from a brief message and you really feel a connection to that person.

If you would like to send Alexis a postcard email us at alexisworldtraveler@gmail.com

First Postcard Registered: Germany

Guten Tag, (German for "good day")

Alexis sent her 2nd postcard to Warburg, Germany and it took 9 days to travel to its destination. Her next postcard is traveling to Taiwan. Now that she has 1 postcard registered, Alexis should start receiving her first official postcard soon.

We will be posting pictures of each postcard received here on this blog.

If you stumble across this blog, Alexis loves to find comments. She checks regularly and is quite disappointed when the comments say 0. So if you could be kind enough to leave a quick note it would make Alexis very happy.

Danke, (Thank you)
